Former Auburn All-America swimmer Micah Lawrence claimed a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke at the FINA World Championships on Friday in Kazan, Russia.
After qualifying in second from both the prelims (2:23.32) and semifinals (2:22.04) on Thursday, Lawrence swam a 2:22.44 in Friday’s finals to claim the silver medal. The medal was the second of her career at the World Championships after winning bronze in the same event in 2013.
Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace also had an impressive showing on Friday as she will go into Saturday’s finals of the 50m butterfly seeded fifth following a 26.02 in the prelims and a 25.
