Micah Lawrence and Annie Lazor are both one swim away from a spot on Team USA and a berth in the Rio Olympics.
Lawrence, who finished sixth in the 200-meter breaststroke in the London Olympics in 2012, qualified second and Lazor seventh in the same event’s semifinals on Thursday night at the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Neb. Lawrence swam a 2:24.66 to win the second heat and qualify second for Friday night’s finals. Lazor, swimming next to hear in the semis, clocked a 2:26.68 to qualify seventh.
Lawrence had qualified first for the semis after swimming a 2:26.
