George Petrie penned those words in 1945 as the opening line to the Auburn Creed. David Marsh, who led Auburn's swimming and diving program to unprecedented heights during his 17-year head coaching run, saw those words come to fruition on Wednesday when he was named the head coach of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team
"It is a profound honor and an exciting challenge to be named head coach for the women's U.S. Olympic Team," Marsh told USA Swimming. "The opportunity to lead a USA Olympic team is incredible."
"I think this is long overdue with David's track record of taking athletes from club swimming to collegiate swimming to the Olympic level," said current Auburn head coach Brett Hawke, a fellow Olympic coach himself.
