Arthur Mendes, who helped Auburn win the SEC title in the 400 free relay this past season, will represent his native Brazil along with former Auburn swimmers Cesar Cielo and Marcelo Chierighini. Mendes is scheduled to swim in the 100m butterfly, which begins on Friday, Aug. 7.
Cielo, who has medaled at each of the last two Olympics, will swim the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly while Chierighini will swim the 100m freestyle.
Kirsty Coventry, who has won five Olympic medals during her career, will swim in all three backstroke events (50m, 100m and 200m) and the 200m individual medley for her native Zimbabwe.
