Both redshirt freshman Kamryn Pettway and true freshman Chandler Cox excelled at the position this spring for Auburn, and both made lasting impressions on the coaching staff — not just during practices, but during the Tigers’ annual A-Day game last month.
“Both those guys did a wonderful job … for us,” Malzahn said Monday. “Both those guys will be in the mix. We have not made a decision on who’s starting.”
Both Pettway and Cox rotated reps with the first-team offense, serving well as versatile point-of-attack blockers for Auburn’s rushing attack during the spring game, and both showed glimpses of the athleticism Malzahn and the coaching staff have craved at the unglamorous position.
