To say that I am “cautiously optimistic” about Sean White would be generous. That isn’t because of a lack of faith in White as much as it is a declaration of being severely snake bitten by Jeremy Johnson, Duke Williams, and the coaching staff in general. Yet, I begin to wonder if I hesitate to praise him and celebrate that Auburn has a real winner because of what he has or has not done on the field or because I am tired of getting my hopes and expectations crushed, as only Auburn University football can do. It’s almost ironic that the game against Arkansas in 2014, which set the Auburn fans’ expectations alight about Jeremy Johnson, is a similar, yet drastically different, situation in 2015.
