AUBURN, Ala. – No. 3 Auburn softball opened the 2016 Tiger Invitational by blanking Boston College 6-0 Friday night at Jane B. Moore Field. The Tigers outhit the Eagles 10-1 as they improved to a 12-1 record.
Three Tigers shared pitching duties with Makayla Martin (4-0) earning victory. The freshman kept the Eagles (5-8) batted balls low to the ground and picked up four strikeouts along the way. Rachel Walters and Lexi Davis both added an inning of relief work to give Auburn its fifth shutout of the year.
"She (Martin) is a down-ball pitcher," head coach Clint Myers said after the game.
