Former Auburn pitcher Rocky McCord was selected in the 26th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Wednesday.
Turns out that patience paid for the former Auburn starting pitcher.
McCord, a right-handed hurler from Spanish Fort, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 26th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft one year after the Kansas City Royals drafted him in the 31st round.
“I think coming back for my senior year helped me a lot,” McCord told the Opelika-Auburn News on Wednesday. “I was ready to go last year; I just wasn’t prepared for minor league ball.
