Pennlive.com reported Thursday that Shoop “has turned down multiple offers to meet with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and discuss filling the Tigers’ vacant defensive coordinator position.”
Shoop, 49, is a former DC at Vanderbilt who went to Penn State with James Franklin. Before being hired at Vandy in 2011, all his experience was on the FCS level, including a three-season stint as head coach at Columbia, except for one season as Army’s secondary coach (1998). He has been a full-time college assistant since 1991.
