Auburn has hired former Memphis coach Larry Porter as an offensive assistant, 247Sports reported Saturday.
Porter, 44, will replace tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Scott Fountain on staff after he reportedly was dismissed earlier this week.
Porter served as Memphis coach from 2010-11, where he had a combined record of 3-21 in two seasons. He most recently has served as the running backs coach at North Carolina since 2014.
In addition to his time with the Tar Heels, Porter also has been the running backs coach at Tennessee-Martin (1998), Arkansas State (1999-2001), Oklahoma State (2002-04), LSU (2005-09), Arizona State (2012) and Texas (2013).
