Thursday night was quite the scene in the Auburn Arena. LSU came to town, and one of the teams would leave at 2–4 overall, 1–5 in SEC play, putting it with Texas A&M and Missouri in the dumps of the SEC. The winner would be in the third tier of the SEC, along with Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee.
There was a bit more on the line than staying out of the SEC’s dumpster. With a win, head coach Bruce Pearl would pick up his 500th career victory.
Regardless of whether they were there to support the 500th win cause, there were some fans of distinction in the stands.
