Original Toomer’s Corner oak trees to be repurposed for Auburn

Auburn will soon be able to enjoy the original Toomer’s Corner oak trees again – albeit with a new shape and purpose.

Antique Woods of Louisiana owner Shawn Burks said Friday on “After Further Review” on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge that the approved plan for the iconic trees is to make a chandelier out of one and a sculpture out of the other.

“Everything they’re doing is giving back to the university, the students and fans,” Burks said. “It’s going to be a piece that everybody can share and get around with a group of friends and take a picture with it.
