Octavius Matthews, the nation’s top junior college running back, has committed to Auburn.
The three-star player who most recently played at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi made the announcement Sunday on Twitter. He previously was committed to Louisville.
Last season, as a freshman at Itawamba, he rushed for 808 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games. In 2014, he rushed for 1,752 yards as a senior at North Jackson (Ala.) High.
Matthews’ commitment comes after attending Auburn’s Big Cat Weekend. Four-star athlete Malcolm Askew committed to the Tigers a day earlier after also attending the football program’s recruiting weekend.
