On their home field last weekend, third-ranked Auburn softball (30-4, 6-3) swept South Carolina. Not to be outdone, the No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats (31-5, 8-1) were simultaneously taking the broom to the Razorbacks in Fayetteville, Ark.
Since, the Wildcats traveled to the home of the Ohio Bobcats and, on Tuesday, split a doubleheader.
Despite the loss to Ohio, Kentucky is having a fantastic 2016, somewhat unexpectedly sitting atop the current SEC standings alongside No. 1 Florida.
In fact, while Auburn — currently tied for third with Tennessee — is right where they were voted in the annual preseason polling of the SEC head coaches, the Wildcats were predicted to finish just eighth in the league.
