While Auburn softball (27-4, 3-3) was taking two-out-of-three from the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville, Miss. last weekend, the South Carolina Gamecocks (24-6, 2-4) were doing the same to No. 12 Georgia in Columbia, S.C.
Both the Tigers and Carolina took care of business in their Wednesday preludes to this weekend’s series, beating Georgia State and Charleston Southern respectively.
The Gamecocks have bounced back nicely after opening their SEC slate by getting swept at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats. After losing a series to top-ranked Florida and winning one against Mississippi State — but looking unlike themselves and inconsistent in doing so — Auburn would like nothing more than a dominant performance at Jane B.
