AUBURN, Ala. – No. 19 Tennessee was too strong Friday evening, defeating Auburn 6-1 in men’s tennis at the Barksdale Tennis Stadium in Knoxville.
In doubles, Carles Sarrio and Matteo De Vincentis took court two to a tiebreaker, and Edward Nguyen and Tad Maclean were tied 5-5 on court one against the Volunteers’ No. 15-ranked tandem of Preston Touliatos and Luis Valero, but Tennessee eventually won the doubles point.
The Volunteers swept through singles as well, winning five of six first sets and capturing wins on courts four, six and five to clinch the team victory.
