I was a freshman at Auburn in the fall of 1993. I was living away from where I was born and raised in Waukesha, WI for the first time, loving every minute of it. In the words of John Denver, “coming home to a place I’d never been before.”
It would be impossible for me to separate football from that incredibly special time in my life. Auburn had experienced a 10-game joy-ride under new coach Terry Bowden. The Tigers – on probation, banished from television, ineligible to compete in a bowl game – had one more dragon to slay before completing their perfect season – Alabama.
