Maybe, just maybe Auburn baseball received the spark it needed Saturday at Plainsman Park. Designated hitter Conor Davis hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give No. 23 Auburn baseball a 6-5 win over No. 17 Ole Miss in front of the home crowd.
“I could just feel our crowd,” Auburn head baseball coach Butch Thompson said. “…I felt our Auburn crowd like never before. I know our players did, too.” It was that home field advantage that ignited the come from behind victory.
Walk-off wins are rare and always exciting but it was particularly special for a team that has had to scratch and claw its way through a season mostly without starters Davis Daniel and Jack Owen.
