Mickey Dean Hired as Softball Head Coach

Auburn softball hired James Madison head coach Mickey Dean to fill the vacancy left by Clint Myers today. To go ahead and address the elephant in the room, I basically echo everything Tuco says here about the Myers’s and athletic department, okay? This is about Auburn softball moving forward.

Dean has been one of the rising stars in NCAA softball recently. In five years at JMU, Dean’s teams went 237-56, including 102 wins over the last two seasons. He coached the NCAA player of the year in 2017, pitcher/infielder Megan Good. He has been a college head coach a total of 11 seasons, and he also had a stint as the head coach of the Chicago Bandits from 2002-2008, where he won a National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) championship in 2008.
