Auburn has yet to decide on a starting quarterback for the 2016 season and while time is ticking, Tigers coach Gus Malzahn isn’t worried.
“I’m not ready to name a starting quarterback yet,” Malzahn said Saturday. “There’s still very good competition.”
Malzahn’s plan is to slowly eliminate the competition from three to two, having the remaining players battle it out before officially naming the starter. Having three candidates will also give Auburn the ability to switch out during the season if the starter’s performance waivers.
Returners Jeremy Johnson and Sean White rotated last season, with White progressively taking over as the season continued.
