WACO, Texas -- Auburn senior Lukas Ollert and junior Marko Krickovic opened NCAA championship doubles play Thursday with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over John Morrissey and Robert Stineman of Stanford, one of the top eight seeds in the field of 32.
"Our guys got off to a slow start in the first set returning, but as the match went on, we got more and more comfortable with returns and got stronger," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said about his doubles team's victory.
Taking the first set 7-5, Ollert and Krickovic were stronger in the second stanza, posting a 6-3 win in that set to win the match in the longer championship format.
