AUBURN, Ala. – A day after being named a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist, Michael Johnson has been selected to the United States team for the Arnold Palmer Cup in the annual Ryder Cup-style competition vs. Europe June 24-26 at Formby Golf Club in Formby, England.
Johnson, who is currently ranked fifth in the country in the Palmer Cup rankings, is having a record-setting senior season, winning a school record three tournaments. He currently holds the lowest stroke average in school history at 69.69.
His three victories in the Primland Collegiate, Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate and the Schenkel Invitational are the most in a season in school history and his five career wins are second only to Jimmy Green’s six.
