VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – The second-ranked Auburn men’s golf team finished third at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate with a 7-under 273 at the Old Overton Club on Tuesday to finish 13-under 276-278-273--827 .
The Tigers were six strokes behind Alabama (275--821) and one stroke behind Florida (271—826).
All-SEC senior Michael Johnson was the runner-up at 10-under 66-70-64—200 finishing one stroke behind Alabama’s Robbie Shelton (66-64-69—199). Johnson, who is second in the Golfweek Individual Rankings, fired a bogey-free final round 64 with six birdies on Nos. 5, 6, 11, 15, 16 and 17.
Freshman Jacob Solomon (71-68-70—209) tied for 11th and All-America sophomore Ben Schlottman (69-72-69—210) tied for 14th.
