The Richmond, Va., native fell to Maclain Huge 4-and-3 in the championship. He won his first four matches defeating Vincent Nadeau 3-and-1 in the first round followed by Zack Henry 2-and-1, Trey Smith 3-and-2 and Keith Decker 2-and-1 in the semifinals.
Lawrence won the 25th annual Virginia State Junior Amateur Match Play Championship for a record-tying third straight year at the Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Va.
He was the No. 1 seed in the two day 16-man match play tournament, defeating Brandon Weaver in the semifinals before winning the championship against Tom Crow, capturing the Clyde L.
