Kareem Canty was up to his old tricks and Auburn survived a game of wild momentum swings to beat New Mexico 83-78 in the first game of the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii on Tuesday.
Canty led Auburn with 27 points and seven assists, hitting come-back 3-pointers along the way. His clutch 3-pointer late, his fifth of the game, turned a one-point lead into a four-point advantage.
Auburn led by five at the half, but, in seemingly a blink of an eye, the Lobos took a 53-47 in quick order in the second half.
