AUBURN, Ala. -- Jack Stewart, Auburn's first All-American in 1932, has been named one of the 2016 Allstate SEC Basketball Legends to be honored at the SEC Tournament March 9-13 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Stewart's family will receive the honor in his memory.
Stewart was a second-team All-America selection by College Humor magazine as the university was then called Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Purdue's John Wooden was a first-team All-American that season.
Stewart was a three-Year letter winner in basketball from 1930-32, and it was written that he "finished the 1932 season as one of the high scorers in Dixie, was a remarkable floor man and a great defensive player.
