AUBURN, Ala. -- Former Auburn forward Kenny Gabriel helped lead Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir to its first Turkish Basketball League title in 28 years on Friday.
Gabriel, who played for Auburn from 2009-12, averaged 10 points and 7.2 rebounds as Pinar Karsiyaka defeated Anadolu Efes Istanbul 4-1 in the best of seven series. The Charlotte, N.C., native had 16 points and seven rebounds in the 91-88 Game 4 win followed by 12 points and eight rebounds in the Game 5 85-71 clincher.
Gabriel won the Slam Dunk Competition at the All-Star Game in January.
Anadolu Efes, with a record 13 Turkish Basketball League Championships, won Game 1 at home 85-92 in overtime before Pinar Karsiyaka won four straight.
