Freshman Horace Spencer enters the Auburn basketball program with high expectations and the credentials to back up those expectations. Spencer, a 6-9, 220-pound power forward from Philadelphia, Pa., had offers from coast to coast.
Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl has even compared him to a Hall of Famer.
“He reminds me of Dennis Rodman, only in that his motor runs,” Pearl said. “He plays above the rim. He’s such a willing learner. He’s such a great kid. He’s a hard-nosed player.”
Like Rodman, Pearl says Spencer’s strengths are his rebounding and defense, but says he sees potential for growth on the offensive end because of Spencer’s work ethic.
