The Auburn defensive coordinator addressed the Tigers in the locker room before the annual A-Day scrimmage as if it was a crucial SEC game and gave them a goal: pitch a shutout.
"He wants everything done his way," safety Tray Matthews said.
Auburn's first-team defense didn't pitch a shutout but the resulting 24-14 scrimmage score (the backups threw a touchdown pass with time running off the clock) was pleasing to Gus Malzahn's eyes.
"This is the lowest-scoring spring game that we've had," he said.
