Kelli Murphy wins South Carolina Women's Amateur

Recent Auburn graduate Kelli Murphy earned a victory in her first post-collegiate tournament, running away from the field to win the South Carolina Women’s Amateur Championship, which concluded Thursday.

Playing on her home course, the Elgin, S.C., native shot rounds of 72-66-71=209 (-7) to claim an 11-shot victory at the Members’ Course at Woodcreek just outside Columbia.

Murphy’s second-round 66 on her 22nd birthday Wednesday included a hole-in-one – the third of her career – on the par-3 15th. All three of her career aces have come on that hole. She also played the tournament wearing one golf shoe and one sandal because of a broken toe.
