AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn outfielder Jay Estes has agreed to sign a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
A native of Crawfordville, Florida, Estes transferred to Auburn following a pair of seasons at Chipola College and turned in a .303 career batting average in two seasons on The Plains. He earned a start in 123 of 125 games played at five different positions.
Estes saved his best for last as he recorded 18 multiple-hit efforts in the last 29 games and raised his batting average 70 points over the last two months of the 2018 season, resulting in a team-best .
