AUBURN, Ala. - If Auburn’s series at Tennessee resembles the Tigers’ previous SEC series, fans can expect close games.
Auburn’s past five conference wins have been of the one-run variety. After going 1-11 in one-run games last season, the Tigers are 10-2 in nail-biters this season. Auburn has won eight consecutive one-run games, including Tuesday’s 16-15 Samford slugfest.
Casey Mize (5-1, 1.37 ERA) starts Thursday’s 6 p.m. opener against Tennessee’s Hunter Martin (4-2, 3.56).
“Hopefully, we can find a way early in the series,” Auburn coach Butch Thompson said.
