AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn was selected as one of seven finalists for the American Heart Association (AHA) and 2017 Paul Bryant Coach of the Year Award on Wednesday.
In his fifth season at Auburn, Malzahn guided the Tigers to 10 wins, wins over rivals Alabama and Georgia, and a trip to the SEC championship game. With a win over UCF in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Malzahn can help Auburn get to 11 wins – something that’s only been done six times previously in program history.
This is also the second straight year the Tigers have played in a New Year’s Six bowl under Malzahn, who believes the program is as stable as it’s been since he arrived.
