When news came recently that former Auburn running back Carnell Williams had taken a job coaching at the University of West Georgia, my mind immediately went back to his time on The Plains. Affection-ally known by Auburn fans as “Cadillac,” Williams is one of the all time Auburn greats.
I recall a conversation I had with him at the 2014 Tiger Trails Induction Ceremony. I asked him what his plans might be after football. “Coaching,” he said. “I think some day, I’d like to coach on high school or college level.”
At the time he still lacked one semester to finish his degree.
