Former Auburn University football player Michael McNeil won't receive early release from prison after being convicted in a 2011 home invasion.
The Mobile native who attended Davidson High School pleaded guilty in April 2013 to first-degree robbery, court records show.
Lee County Circuit Court Judge Christopher Hughes denied McNeil's request for early release after serving two-thirds of a three-year sentence.
The judge stated McNeil has taken "commendable steps to make positive use of his time while incarcerated.
"However, given the totality of the circumstances and the benefit (McNeil) received from the agreement to which he agreed at the time he voluntarily pleaded guilty, the court finds the motion due to be and is hereby DENIED," the judged stated in his order dated April 10.
