Quentin Groves was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back.
Or the shoes off his feet.
One day when he was in elementary school in his native Greenville, Miss., young Quentin hustled home. He was barefoot and anxious, probably wondering if he'd be in trouble with his mama.
Barbara Groves looked her middle child up and down and quickly asked where his brand new tennis shoes were.
"He said, 'Mama, a little boy came to school with holes in his shoes, and the other kids were teasing him.
