Despite rain, Auburn fans help break Birmingham Bowl attendance record

Auburn fans who decided to sit through the rain were treated to the Tigers best performance of the year as they beat Memphis 31-10.

The previous Birmingham Bowl attendance record was 59,326 in 2013 when Ole Miss beat Pittsburgh. After those two games featuring prominent SEC schools, the next highest attendance number takes a big drop as just over 45,000 showed up to watch UCONN and South Carolina play in 2010.

Obviously it helped that Auburn was playing in their home state, just two hours away from campus, but many fans could have made the excuse that is was cold and rainy and just watched it on television.
