This time of year is all about expectations. Unlike that other team across the state, Auburn fans want and expect the other major sports to do well. 2017–2018 didn’t feature any national championships, but every sport save softball exceeded expectations. No, Auburn football didn’t end on a high note and watching Alabama’s Tagovailoa connect with Smith on 2nd and 26 in overtime (COME ON GEORGIA, IT WAS SECOND AND TWENTY-SIX!!!) was a totally fitting ending to the football season for grizzled Auburn fans. No, basketball didn’t make it to the final four, nor did softball or baseball play in Oklahoma or Omaha.
