The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the conviction of a man serving life without parole in the shooting deaths of two former Auburn football players on Friday.
Desmonte Leonard was convicted in 2014 of fatally shooting Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips after an argument broke out a June 9, 2012 pool party at an Auburn apartment complex. A third man, DeMario Pitts, and three others, including Auburn player Eric Mack, were also wounded in the attack.
Leonard, who was 22 at the time of the shooting, was sentenced to life without parole in January 2015.
Christian, Phillips and Mack were all members of Auburn’s 2010 recruiting class.
