Auburn cornerback Michael Sherwood will transfer from the school, Tigers coach Gus Malzahn told reporters Monday.
Sherwood, who will be a senior this fall, plans to play elsewhere as a graduate transfer upon his graduation.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Sherwood is a former walk-on who earned a scholarship – along with six others – during fall camp last year. He played in six games during his three-year Auburn career, recording five tackles and one pass breakup.
Sherwood, from Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside, was Auburn’s fourth-team safety behind seniors Tray Mathews, Stephen Roberts and Nick Ruffin following spring practice.
