Contender at linebacker, Buck position sits out Auburn practice

Backup linebacker Cameron Toney did not participate in practice Tuesday due to an apparent injury.

Toney was spotted inside the Auburn Athletics Complex as the team practiced at the adjacent indoors facility.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn confirmed Toney's absence, but did not provide complete details on his status with the team. He said Tuesday he is injured.

Toney could return in time for the A-Day scrimmage Saturday (1 p.m., SEC Network+) inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, Malzahn said.

The rising sophomore had two tackles last season as a redshirt freshman, but was moving between positions during spring drills under coordinator Will Muschamp.
