There are many similarities between that 2010 Auburn team and this year’s Clemson team starting with the comparisons between Clemson’s Deshaun Watson and Auburn’s Cam Newton. Both quarterbacks have a skill set that seems to give Nick Saban defenses problems.
Watson and Newton are both highly capable of throwing the ball deep where Alabama’s secondary has been weak, and each are more than capable of breaking contain and running down the field. Clemson’s quarterback is listed at 6-foot, 2-inches and 210 pounds, while the Carolina Panthers list Newton at 6-foot, 5-inches and 245 pounds so there is quite a big size difference between the two, but both are still very big quarterbacks that can handle some blows from Alabama’s big linebackers.
