Andrew Mitchell threw five scoreless innings as Auburn baseball defeated Florida A&M 11-2 on Wednesday at Plainsman Park. The Tigers scored a season-high 11 runs including a five-run eighth inning.
“We kind of need that,” Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. “We tried to make a few adjustments and both guys executed a completely different plan the first time we saw them pitch. I thought we had a little more success with it. We really took the sting out of the swing tonight with those two pitchers. I was pleased by that.”
Mitchell (1-0) struck out three and didn’t allow a run to earn his first victory at Auburn.
