AUBURN, Ala. - Right-hander Justin Camp pitched a career-high 8.0 innings with a career-best nine strikeouts as Auburn baseball shutout Southern University 7-0 on Saturday at Plainsman Park.
“It was a clean game, a good baseball game,” Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. “A fifth-year senior with a lot of maturity went out there and handled the ball really good today.”
A fifth-year senior from Decatur, Ala., Camp (1-0) retired 16-straight batters after allowing a leadoff single in the second. His next hit allowed came to open the eighth.
Camp allowed just the two hits and no runs to improve to 1-0 on the season.
