2013 seems so long ago. An eternity, many Auburn fans might say. 2013 may have famously come 13 seconds short of Auburn’s second national championship in three years, but for many, it was the most satisfying season in a very, very long time.
As Auburn’s coach, Gus Malzahn frequently said, “The future is bright.”
2014 opened with great hope as Auburn returned most of the key cogs, including Nick Marshall, who would be the first two-year starter for Gus Malzahn. Auburn opened the year as expected and even crushed SEC West foe, LSU. The following week, the proverbial wheels came off the Gus Bus.
