AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn track and field opened up the first day of the Tiger Track Classic with two event wins and eleven top-five finishes at Hutsell-Rosen Track on Friday.
“I am pleased with our effort overall today,” Auburn head coach Ralph Spry said. “We had some strong marks overall and we are looking forward to building on those marks tomorrow.
Senior Kendra Mitchell got things going for the Tigers, winning gold in the women’s javelin. Mitchell needed only two throws to win the event with a mark of 143-03/43.67m.
Kenzley Defler and Anna Nelson finished first and second in the 5,000 meters to wrap up the night for the Tigers.
