As Louisiana-Lafayette’s Kelli Martinez walked to the plate and the Auburn faithful loudly chanted, “OKC,” the moment and the pressure weren’t lost on Auburn pitcher Lexi Davis.
“It’s hard to not let the adrenaline get to you,” Davis said. “That’s one of things I try to work on is slowing the game down in my mind and not letting everything get to me so I don’t over-pitch.”
Trying to stay in her zone and not get caught up that her team was one win away from history, Davis delivered to Martinez, who hit a groundball to shortstop Haley Fagan.
