Herb Hand, who just finished his second season as Auburn’s offensive line coach, is headed to Texas in the same role. Hand also reportedly will be the co-offensive coordinator for the Longhorns.
College football writer Brett McMurphy first had news of the move, and a source confirmed it to GN.
The timing is not good for Auburn, what with National Signing Day in three weeks and offensive line recruits a high priority this cycle for the Tigers. But Hand’s line struggled at times this season, surrendering 36 sacks, second-most in the SEC. Auburn allowed 11 sacks against Clemson, three in the SEC championship game against Georgia and six in the Peach Bowl loss to UCF.
