The game was over when Jonathan Ford returned an interception for a touchdown with 6:47 left in the second quarter. The improvement in play from Auburn’s secondary stands as the greatest evidence available of Will Muschamp’s coaching prowess this season.
After the Kentucky game I wrote about, “Auburn’s soft, no pass rush, poor tackling defense which surely must possess the worst secondary in major college football.”
That defense, of late, has become ball-hawking, solid-tackling and good enough to win at Texas A&M and give the team a chance to beat Ole Miss and Georgia.
Defensively, it was nice to finally hear the name Byron Cowart on the TV broadcast.
