Auburn right tackle Darius James was carted off the field on a stretcher against Mercer on Saturday.
James, a senior, lied with his face down and showed no signs of movement while he was being treated after sustaining the injury. His neck was stabilized when he flipped over onto a backboard and placed on a stretcher.
Auburn later announced that James had feeling in all his extremities before he was being taken to East Alabama Medical Center in nearby Opelika, Auburn, for precautionary reasons.
James sustained the injury when left guard Mike Horton fell on his back on a 3-yard run by running back Kamryn Pettway.
